UEM Edgenta, IIB Partner To Achieve Net Zero Goals In Medini

UEM Edgenta Berhad (UEM Edgenta) has signed a Memorandum of Business Exploration (MOBE) with Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB) to enhance sustainability, energy efficiency, and carbon emission reduction in Medini, Johor.

This partnership aims to support IIB’s Net Zero goals through various initiatives over the next two years.

Additionally, the collaboration will focus on integrating UEM Edgenta’s advanced energy efficiency solutions to foster a sustainable built environment and hyper-connected city technologies in the Iskandar region.

Under the MOBE, UEM Edgenta will provide expertise in achieving Net Zero Buildings through energy efficiency measures, on-site renewable energy, energy audits, and retrofitting buildings to meet green standards.

The partnership will also explore Zero Capex programmes for energy efficiency and integrated monitoring systems for energy performance and carbon emissions.

The initiative will extend to sustainable and hyper-connected city development, involving smart urban planning, establishing Renewable Energy Zones, and deploying Battery Energy Storage Systems.

Additionally, a Net Zero City Technology Roadmap will be developed, featuring digital twins for urban modeling, predictive maintenance, and smart facility management systems.

In infrastructure development, UEM Edgenta will contribute engineering and project management expertise to provide long-term value to property owners and township developers, aligning with IIB’s Net Zero Vision. This partnership aims to set new standards in energy efficiency and green building practices, targeting 90% Green Certified Buildings by 2040.

Datuk Idzham Mohd Hashim emphasised the significance of this collaboration, “The partnership with UEM Edgenta aligns perfectly with our vision to establish the region’s first net zero CBD, centering on digitalisation, innovation, and Global Business Services.”

He added that the initiative is committed to exploring transformative sustainable solutions, paving the way for a resilient and sustainable future in Medini, Johor.

He stated, “Our sustainability efforts have delivered significant cost savings, enhanced performance, and increased asset value for our clients, with reductions in electrical energy use and carbon emissions.”

He urged more Malaysian companies to adopt green practices to foster a sustainable future.
