Johor’s startups joined fellow like-minded young teams to learn from successful brands in the nation
IP SMART “CREATE” organised by Startup Johor and powered by Iskandar Investment Berhad and Iskandar Innovations Sdn Bhd was a success at Iskandar Space in Afiniti Medini, Iskandar Puteri, Johor. The largest startup festival brought the community together in an inclusive, educational and engaging way.
The festival kickstarted on 26th June 2019 with a public pitching competition where 10 startups in Southern region presented their business overview in front of invited investors and the public. Winner of the competition’s Grand Prize, InosighTech was awarded with RM4,000 while Mimotech was the Crowd’s Choice, earning them an amount of RM1,000. IP SMART “CREATE” 2019 was held for 5 days and featured The Alley, a famous Taiwanese beverage brand’s founder, Ching Wai Ng for a chat on how his brand could make it to the top in a highly competitive market in Malaysia.
Registered participants benefited from workshop Masterclass with MaGIC (Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre) trainers about Social Entrepreneurship and Design Sprint. Speaker from Roo Branding taught on e-commerce content and copywriting masterclass while trainers from Ninjamarket shared on how to outsell the competitors in the market.
Inclusivity is key as the festival prepared a segment for children and young participants about Unleashing Creativity with Design Thinking & Making. A segment of Female Founders’ Roundtable brought the ladies together to encourage and provide space for more females to surface.
Participants were able to get to know more about their workplace dynamic and themselves and then learn how to be and do better with EMOWAVE’s emotional intelligence blueprint self-help session.
Techstars Startup Weekend Iskandar Puteri was also running all day and the final programme of the festival was Microsoft’s Insider Dev Tour Talk.
